2013
John, working with dkj architects in Darwin, was commissioned to create a new workplace model for the City of Darwin, specifically within the existing Civic Centre building. John developed an evaluation framework for the existing workspace, ran a series of workshops with City of Darwin Elected Members, a representative group of managers, and a representative group of general staff. He also ran a series of town hall meetings for all staff to be informed about the project.
The outcome was a new workplace model that borrowed from Activity Based Working, applied differentially across the City of Darwin workforce to match their particularly work styles. This model was socialised broadly with the general workforce and feedback received indicated that it has a high level of acceptance.
The project is currently with the City of Darwin to proceed with renovations and implement the workplace model.
